Position: Construction Engineer - HVAC

Company: The MEH Alliance - Altrad Babcock

Location: Hinkley Point C

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Building Lead with daily construction scheduling, engineering tasks, and the advancement of work on assigned structures.
  • Responsible for delivering specific Construction Work Pack scopes to support MEH construction efforts.
  • Establish the limits of work scope.
  • Collaborate with necessary Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and client representatives.
  • Engage in the constructability assessment of your designated buildings, utilizing building engineers to optimize installation sequencing for maximum efficiency.
  • Oversee project modifications within your assigned buildings, ensuring adherence to the project change process, including construction documentation and contract scope changes in collaboration with the Building Lead.
  • Ensure all documents comply with the latest work information and MEH documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, reviewing it at least every six months.
  • Take ownership of deliverables from inception to A-Accepted status, achieving over 90% first-time acceptance criteria.
  • Prioritize and manage documentation to facilitate construction activities according to the level 4 plan.
  • Support initiatives for continuous improvement to enhance processes and procedures.
  • Report directly to the Building Manager or designated deputy.
  • Manage and maintain Procon reporting data for your assigned buildings.
  • Exhibit positive HSE leadership, fostering a robust and compliant Health, Safety, and Environment culture throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licensing regulations.
  • Review and provide feedback on the adequacy of resources needed to effectively manage the support function.

Key Deliverables:

  • Produce Construction Work Packs to support the MEH Alliance program.
  • Facilitate the use of the Procon system for construction progress reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with MEH Alliance Work Authorization and Permit systems.
  • Coordinate safe access routes to work areas for MEH Alliance construction activities.
  • Oversee the necessary topographical and surveying work to support MEH Alliance construction efforts.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  • A relevant degree in construction or HVAC engineering.
  • Alternatively, an HNC in a relevant construction discipline or HVAC engineering with substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Or, a minimum of 10 years' experience in a site management capacity.

Additional Qualifications/Experience:

  • IOSH Managing Safely certification preferred.
  • CCNSG or HSE MaPs Safety Passport.
  • Ability to obtain BPSS security clearance or higher.
  • Professional accreditation is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in safely delivering large-scale construction or engineering projects, particularly in heavy industry or nuclear sectors, is advantageous.
