Position Overview

The selected individual will have the remarkable opportunity to join the growing interventional radiology team at the newly established Kent Interventional Radiology Centre, which is part of the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. This role is pivotal in contributing to the formation of a Centre of Excellence, operating within a cutting-edge innovation and education facility.

The role involves supporting the theatre coordinator and senior team members, ensuring accountability for patient safety and high-quality care. A strong emphasis will be placed on strategic priorities, including the safe handover of care, prevention of venous thromboembolic events, medication safety, management of catheter-associated urinary tract infections, fall prevention, pressure ulcer management, and addressing sepsis-related incidents.

The candidate will be expected to apply critical thinking skills in clinical decision-making. Collaboration within the Interventional Radiology team is essential to meet service demands, and the individual will play a significant role in service delivery while adhering to established policies and procedures. The focus will be on providing safe care to patients and maintaining a secure environment in accordance with local and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will deliver effective patient care as a vital member of the Kent Interventional Radiology team across the healthcare trust. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining high standards of patient care and ensuring the efficient utilization of interventional radiology theatres and day care units.
  • Fostering a positive workplace culture within the Interventional Radiology department to promote person-centered, safe, and effective care through self-awareness, leadership, continuous learning, and innovation.
  • Contributing to the training and development of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assuming responsibilities in the absence of senior practitioners to ensure a positive patient experience through the delivery of exceptional care.

Newly registered professionals are required to undergo a Preceptorship period, as mandated by the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority. This initiative aims to welcome and integrate newly registered staff into their teams and work environments.
