Job Details

Teaching Vacancies is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Corpus Christi Primary School in Weston Super Mare.

Job Role
  • Assist in promoting the learning and personal development of year 2 pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils in learning activities, both individually and in groups, to ensure they make the best use of educational opportunities
  • Set up activities based on class teachers' planning, clarify instructions, and ensure pupils use equipment and materials provided
  • Motivate and encourage pupils to learn, providing individual attention, reassurance, and help with learning tasks as needed
  • Assist pupils in weaker areas, such as reading, spelling, numeracy, and handwriting/presentation
  • Liaise with class teachers, SENDCO, and other professionals to contribute to the planning and delivery of education, health, and care plans (EHCP)
  • Provide additional nurture opportunities to individuals when requested by the class teacher or SENDCO
  • Implement agreed behavior management strategies consistently and effectively
  • Help make appropriate resources to support pupils
