We are in search of a hands-on Engineering Manager who will collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams to develop and enhance customer-centric technology products. Our teams embrace end-to-end ownership, and you will play a crucial role in supporting both engineering and product teams to achieve their goals. Your leadership will empower our engineers to maximize their potential, refine their existing skills, and cultivate new competencies for their professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical and people leader for a cross-functional squad of engineers focused on delivering and maintaining essential banking systems.
  • Oversee technical delivery, including direct involvement in design and code reviews, providing constructive feedback to foster team autonomy and maintain a scalable codebase.
  • Work closely with the Product Manager to establish objectives and key results (OKRs) for the squad.
  • Influence software architecture decisions within the team and help manage dependencies with other teams, advocating for the company's strategic vision.
  • Promote a hands-on culture characterized by high observability and a 'build-it, support-it' mentality.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to manage performance and guide team members in their career development.
  • Participate in the hiring process, contributing to the onboarding of new engineers as we continue to grow.
  • Enhance our engineering culture by leading team-building activities, such as offsites, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Ensure that the squad's operational excellence practices lead to an outstanding experience for our merchants.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a hands-on Engineering Manager, with at least 6 years in software development.
  • Proven experience working with backend-focused engineering teams and familiarity with modern programming languages (Golang, Java/Kotlin, Elixir) and AWS.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental design principles, data modeling, and API design.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining high-scale, high-throughput, and high-availability systems in agile settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an empathetic and adaptive leadership style.
