ROLE SUMMARY:
The Technical Team Leader plays a pivotal role in assisting the operations management in the engineering execution of various projects. This position is crucial for Keltbray, as you will be operationally accountable to the operations management while receiving guidance from the Engineering Director to fulfill these responsibilities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Team Leadership: Demonstrate the capability to select, nurture, and oversee teams effectively.
2. Conflict Resolution: Identify, address, and resolve disputes among individuals or interest groups.
3. Inspirational Leadership: Empower and motivate others to achieve successful transformation initiatives.
4. Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify and monitor potential risks and opportunities, planning and implementing appropriate responses.
5. Comprehensive Planning: Document and consolidate essential components of transformation initiatives, including scope, schedule, resource needs, budgets, risks, opportunities, and quality standards.
6. Governance Framework: Establish and maintain governance structures that clarify roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities for the delivery of transformation initiatives.
7. Stakeholder and Communication Management: Manage stakeholders by considering their influence levels and specific interests.
8. Evaluation and Review: Conduct reviews at strategic points during and after transformation initiatives to inform governance and assess progress and methodologies.
9. Change Management: Develop protocols for modifying the scope of transformation initiatives and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
10. Financial Oversight: Create and manage budgets for transformation initiatives, ensuring actual costs align with forecasts.
ROLE SPECIFICS:
This position involves collaboration across multiple projects under the guidance of one or more operations managers to support their project teams. Key responsibilities include:
1. Team Suitability: Ensure that the engineering team assigned to each project meets its specific needs, providing support and development opportunities aligned with individual growth plans.
2. Proposal Review: Conduct internal peer reviews of proposals from site and tender teams, understanding potential changes from initial assumptions and their commercial implications.
3. Engineering Challenges: Proactively address engineering challenges to prevent them from escalating into operational issues, ensuring adherence to quality management systems and appropriate planning.
4. Client Engagement: Act as the engineering representative for Keltbray, providing expert support to site teams and maintaining professional interactions with client teams while clearly articulating Keltbray's position.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational Background: A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
Professional Credentials: Chartered Engineer status with ICE, IStructE, or a similar professional organization.
Membership: Active membership in relevant technical bodies such as IDE, BGS, IET, IMMM, or IExpE.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Over 10 years of experience in diverse technical roles, including responsibilities for design, quality assurance, and site operations. Experience in contracting, consulting, and client engagement is essential.
