Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to lead our team in delivering exceptional medicines governance practices. As the Pharmacy Manager/ Lead, you will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of pharmacy technicians, scientists, and trainees, and supporting a team of pharmacists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver training to healthcare professionals across the organization and provide Medicines Advice to healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative strategies for advancing medicines governance practices, with a focus on medicines safety.
  • Coordinate cover for annual leave, sickness, study days, and lieu time.
  • Support and maintain a high-quality service according to national and local guidance.
  • Provide specialist advice to patients regarding any Medicines Advice related query.
  • Provide a regular service to the dispensary or Medicines Management.
  • Understand the competing priorities of risk management and financial pressures.
  • Responsible for training and supporting technical pharmacy staff in the delivery of medicines advice.
  • Act as a Key Trainer for Medicines Advice ensuring all staff are trained in local practices.
  • Establish and maintain links with other senior technicians, managers, and pharmacy staff.
Requirements
  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science NVQ level 3 in pharmacy services
  • Registered pharmacy technician with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Supervisory or Management qualification
  • NVQ A1 assessor award
  • Previous experience of Specialist Technician in NHS
  • Extensive experience of all aspects of pharmacy practice
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Accredited and experienced accuracy checker
  • Experience of training/assessing staff
  • Effective oral and written skills
  • Experience of writing, developing, and implementing SOPs
  • Previous experience in Medicines Advice
  • Incident and error reporting
  • Knowledge of hospital stock control systems
  • Experience/knowledge of managing change
  • Specialist skills in persuasion, negotiation, communication and teamwork
  • Able to cope with conflict and handle difficult situations
