About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Specialist to join our team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Mental Health Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care needs of a specific group of service users.
  • Supervise, mentor, and teach qualified and unqualified staff.
  • Coordinate the patient environment on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Lead the clinical management of a designated group of service users in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care.
  • Ensure that junior staff and students are actively engaged in patient activity.
  • Observe, report, and record changes in the service user's physical, mental health, and behavior.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in planning and delivering care.
  • Maintain working knowledge of legislation, policy, and guidance pertaining to mental health and learning disabilities.
  • Identify, provide, and supervise the necessary physical care to service users to help them complete daily living activities.
  • Act in a manner to respect the customs, individuality, values, sexuality, spiritual beliefs, and activities, supporting the individual to fulfill these.
  • Identify and take action when any behavior undermines diversity and equality.
  • Identify, provide, and supervise therapeutic activities, emotional support, and stability while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Create and maintain professional supportive relationships with all members of staff.
  • Undertake prescribed physical observations.
  • Be responsible for the correct administration of prescribed medication.
  • Work within Trust and Professional Guidelines related to consent and capacity to consent.
