Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a fantastic opportunity for Surgical Support Assistants to become part of our Surgical Team at Powys Teaching Health Board. This role involves collaborating within a vibrant team dedicated to delivering exceptional, all-encompassing care. The successful candidate will function as a vital member of both the Nursing and Preoperative Teams, operating under the guidance and oversight of a qualified nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP). This position is focused on maintaining a high standard of patient care and safety within the Surgical department.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in evaluating care requirements and implementing care plans, contributing to the broader clinical governance framework, including service enhancement and adaptable working to address patient needs.

- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment alongside other professionals from primary and community care teams. The role also includes supervising junior staff and occasionally working independently without direct oversight from a qualified nurse or ODP.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • A solid general education with proficiency in numeracy and literacy.
  • Level 3 NVQ/QSF in a healthcare-related qualification or equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Evidence of ongoing personal development relevant to the healthcare role.
  • Familiarity with local statutory and voluntary services.

  • Proficiency in various clinical skills within the surgical and endoscopy environments.
