Our innovative projects include the development of a hyper-local area energy plan, the first of its kind in the UK, and the exploration of nature-based solutions for carbon capture. We are looking for a motivated and skilled officer to support our environmental programs and contribute to the council's sustainability objectives.

Role Overview

In this essential role, you will assist in formulating the council's new climate change strategy and spearhead climate-related projects and programs in collaboration with local communities and stakeholders. Your efforts will be pivotal in driving West Oxfordshire towards net-zero emissions and enhancing climate resilience. Additionally, you will partner with various internal teams to integrate climate considerations into their operations and advance carbon reduction initiatives aimed at achieving organizational carbon neutrality by 2030.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an individual with a background in climate science, environmental studies, sustainability, or a related discipline, who possesses experience in climate action. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong initiative, advanced problem-solving capabilities, and excellent organizational and project management skills. A genuine passion for tackling climate change is essential.
