As part of the Cabinet Office Delivery Group, which encompasses the Mission Delivery Unit and the Government Strategic Management Office, our team operates from a central London location and promotes a hybrid working model, expecting a minimum of 60% office attendance.

Role Responsibilities

This position is within a collaborative Cabinet Office-HM Treasury unit, established to ensure that robust evidence informs government decisions regarding policies and programs.

Our mission is to work alongside all central government departments, offering specialized guidance on their evaluation strategies and frameworks. We also assist HM Treasury in reviewing the evidence and evaluation plans tied to departmental funding proposals.

Our team champions impactful research initiatives both within the government and externally, managing various funding streams. We collaborate closely with key stakeholders and lead programs aimed at enhancing the transparency of research outputs and equipping civil servants with evaluation skills.

Adaptability to shifting priorities and the ability to propose effective solutions will be essential. Regular communication with a diverse range of individuals and organizations, both within and outside the government, will be a key aspect of your role. You will be proactive and take initiative, while receiving ample support and guidance from your line manager and fellow Evaluation Task Force members.

Key Activities

  • Preparation of Documents: Crafting briefings and reports, including monthly updates for ministers, responses to Freedom of Information requests, and meeting documentation, ensuring all materials are prepared to a high standard.
  • Team Management: Collaborating with HR and Finance to effectively manage team recruitment and budgetary needs.
  • Relationship Building: Establishing and nurturing connections with Ministerial Private Offices within the Cabinet Office and HM Treasury, as well as across the Civil Service.
  • Diary Coordination: Organizing and managing the Deputy Director's schedule, resolving conflicts, and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Email Management: Overseeing the Deputy Director's inbox, ensuring urgent matters are identified and addressed promptly.
  • Meeting Logistics: Coordinating travel, accommodation, and hospitality arrangements, as well as managing meeting logistics and documentation.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Taking the lead on specific tasks to provide additional support and potentially developing your own projects under the Deputy Director's guidance.

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient stakeholder management skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Competent in using software such as Excel, Word, Gmail, and Teams.
  • Discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering effective relationships within the government, particularly with senior management.
  • We seek a candidate with enthusiasm, energy, and a proactive approach, who can work both collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment.
