About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Operating Officer to join our team at the University of Suffolk. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving the development and implementation of our overall strategy and business plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of our overall strategy and business plan, ensuring alignment with our ethos and agenda.
  • Work closely with our board and key stakeholders to develop an integrated strategy that meets our business objectives.
  • Develop and implement robust performance management arrangements, ensuring effective reporting, management, and escalation of service performance.
  • Lead and support teams to address performance gaps or failures, ensuring timely and effective action.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations to the board, highlighting performance and facilitating sound decision-making.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, partners, and stakeholders, providing information, advice, and guidance to support business objectives.
Requirements
  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience, with a postgraduate qualification in a management discipline.
  • Extensive experience in a senior management or operational leadership role, preferably in the NHS.
  • Proven ability to contribute to strategy formulation, translate strategies into operational activities, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Experience of managing and developing personnel, including appraisal, performance, and recruitment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, influence others, and facilitate the organization's goals.
  • Experience of producing and analyzing healthcare data, delivering clinical activity, and quality assurance reports.
  • Proven understanding of budget setting and experience of delivering healthcare-business objectives within tight budgets.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of dental governance systems in England and working knowledge of NHS England dental care commissioning.
  • Experience of delivery in primary dental care settings.
  • Management experience at senior/board level or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a leadership capacity in a dental setting.
