Position Title:
Senior Initial Airworthiness Engineer – Delivery

Overview:
This role is pivotal in ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft through rigorous certification processes. The position is based in a dynamic environment that promotes flexible working arrangements.

Compensation:
£54,793 – £60,326 based on experience

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct independent airworthiness assurance activities related to design certification, including qualification and safety evidence to support airworthiness certification for various programs.
- Serve as the airworthiness focal point, collaborating with System Design Responsibility teams, Flight Operations, and external customers to establish flight limitations.
- Develop and issue Flight Certification (Military Permit to Fly) for both Development and Production Aircraft.
- Create and manage Flight Certification (Release to Service) documentation for Export Customers.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of BAE Systems' flight and design certification processes.
- Represent Airworthiness in project meetings for Typhoon, Tornado, Hawk, and FCAS, including interactions with external customers.
- Engage with customers and senior stakeholders on airworthiness and delivery issues (both internal and external).
- Delegate tasks to qualified team members and oversee their professional development, including performance reviews and career aspirations.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of aircraft avionic and mechanical systems design, as well as aerodynamic disciplines.
- Extensive experience with design configuration control processes.
- Familiarity with design certification and airworthiness processes.
- Experience in aircraft operations within a large organization is desirable.
- Proficiency in analytical methods to establish integrated aircraft-level flight limitations.

About the Initial Airworthiness Delivery Team:


The Initial Airworthiness Delivery team is responsible for the airworthiness assurance of current and future aircraft development, production, and delivery activities, ensuring the safe operation of the product for customers worldwide. The team also oversees continued airworthiness, including defect and accident investigations, to maintain fleet safety throughout their lifecycle.
