Position: Senior Safety Assurance Engineer

Location: Flexible working arrangements available – please consult with your recruiter regarding specific options for this role. Compensation: £50,000 – £65,000

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with clients to establish delivery timelines.
  • Delegating tasks to qualified team members and potentially overseeing personnel responsibilities, including performance reviews and career development.
  • Engaging with senior management to ensure the availability of skilled individuals within the team.
  • Creating and assessing safety documentation for Aircraft/System/Sub-System and Support Products to meet Safety Qualification/Certification requirements throughout the product lifecycle, from concept to qualification.
  • Conducting preliminary hazard identification and assessments, system hazard analyses, and generating safety assessment reports.
  • Updating and reviewing Aircraft Zonal Hazard Analysis Reports (ZHAs) to support certification processes.
  • Maintaining hazard logs for platforms and support products, while producing safety assessments and design justifications.
  • Reviewing certification evidence for platforms and support products, generating safety certification arguments to confirm design safety.
  • Ensuring that safety engineering evidence supports the certification of product designs, preparing materials for internal and external reviews as necessary.
  • Conducting risk assessments for emergent issues related to weapon platforms and supporting system design areas to ensure continued airworthiness and product safety.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • HND/HNC/Degree or equivalent in a STEM discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in safety engineering with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent self-motivation and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Systems or Mechanical Engineering, and Safety Engineering within a military airborne platform design context.
  • Familiarity with safety standards such as UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP4754, ARP 4761, EN 61508.
  • Experience with safety analysis tools like Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Workbench, and Goal Structured Notation (GSN).
  • Ability to engage with senior technical and engineering leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience or a desire to develop into a leadership role.
