About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Planner to join our team at Lancashire County Council. As a key member of our transport planning section, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation in Lancashire.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver transport schemes across the county, working closely with other transport planners, engineers, and spatial and environmental planners.
  • Develop and implement transport models and data analysis to inform decision-making.
  • Provide technical advice and support to projects, collaborating with subject matter specialists, stakeholders, and framework consultants.
  • Mentor and support junior staff, sharing your skills and knowledge to drive team success.
  • Manage and prioritize your own workload, with support from the Transport Planning Team Leader.
Requirements
  • A relevant bachelor's degree (a transport-related MSc is desirable) with at least 3 years of experience in the public or private sector.
  • A broad understanding of relevant transport policies and guidance, including funding mechanisms and procedures.
  • Strong technical skills in analyzing and presenting data, including proficiency in transport planning software such as SATURN, Aimsun, VISSIM, LinSig, and TEMPro.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret modeling outputs and explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Good report writing skills and attention to detail, with the ability to problem-solve and propose solutions to complex issues.
