Deputy Depot Driver Team Leader Job Description

Leader Online Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Depot Driver Team Leader to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of drivers and ensuring the safe and timely transportation of goods.

About the Role

The Deputy Depot Driver Team Leader will work closely with the Depot Driver Team Leader and Transport Manager to achieve business objectives and maintain high standards of customer service. You will be responsible for:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Support the Depot Team Leader in supervising and motivating a team of drivers to meet performance targets and objectives.
    • Assist with scheduling shifts and routes to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands.
    • Assist the team with unloading and loading vehicles each morning.
  • Operational Management:
    • Use reporting tools and IT software to monitor and manage depot operations.
    • Collaborate with driver agencies to ensure cover for all areas of daily runs.
    • Coordinate with the Transport Planner to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
    • Monitor driver performance and vehicle maintenance to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
    • Ensure products are packed safely and securely for transit.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Conduct all activities in a manner that promotes the health and safety of yourself and colleagues.
    • Support site compliance, vehicle checks, and safety checks to ensure all vehicles are safe and compliant.
    • Investigate and report any accidents or incidents involving company vehicles.
    • Ensure accurate loading, unloading, and delivery of all orders.
    • Verify and report any issues with stock on all vehicles.
  • Company Objectives:
    • Ensure business and individual key performance indicators are met.
    • Provide KPI support on data entry for all agreed system sheets.
    • Contribute to achieving departmental service level and targets.
    • Identify potential risks, problems, or product defects and report them immediately.
  • Customer Service:
    • Demonstrate exceptional driving standards and compliance while being courteous and supportive to customers.
    • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer enquiries and concerns in a professional manner.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience as a FLT operator and hold a current FLT operating certificate.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the transport or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of transport regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with transportation management systems.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
