As a Customer Engagement Supervisor, your role is to delight and motivate customers from the moment they arrive until they complete their shopping experience. Whether they are picking up online orders, replenishing essentials, or fueling their vehicles, you will ensure they receive the highest quality service. Reporting to the Lead Customer Engagement Manager, your focus will be on the smooth operational management of the store, ensuring daily efficiency.

Your responsibilities will include managing a medium to large in-store team – delegating tasks, planning breaks, creating schedules, addressing performance matters with sensitivity and effectiveness, and assisting with recruitment. You will be a prominent leader on the sales floor, serving as a role model who fosters training and cultivates an environment where everyone feels included and empowered to challenge existing processes.

  • You will support the Lead Customer Engagement Manager in achieving enhanced customer and retail results in your area.
  • You will collaborate closely with another Customer Engagement Supervisor, exchanging ideas and identifying improvement opportunities, ensuring seamless shift transitions.
  • You will confidently provide direct feedback to your team, offering constructive criticism regularly.
  • You will learn to guide your team in understanding customer perspectives, taking pride in delivering exceptional service.
  • You will become adept at making swift decisions and will be comfortable navigating uncertainty.

As a Customer Engagement Supervisor, you could progress to a Lead Manager position in various departments, including Food, In-store Customer Engagement, Clothing, or General Merchandise. Looking ahead, this role serves as excellent preparation for a Store Management position or a leadership opportunity within the Sainsbury's family, including Habitat, Tu, Argos, Sainsbury's Bank, and Nectar 360.
