About the Role

The Data Lake Manager will oversee the development and use of the organisation's data systems and ensure that all operational and analytical data processes run smoothly and securely.

The job holder will also collect, organise and analyse data in order to identify patterns and draw conclusions that may be useful for operational efficiency and strategic planning.

An important aspect of the job will be transforming complex statistical information into formats that are easily understandable.

To achieve this, the Data Lake Manager will employ various visualisation tools, such as Power Bi to effectively present their findings to executive members.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and manage the Data Lake infrastructure on a cloud platform, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
  • Analyse cloud spending for the Data Lake, allocate storage and compute costs to the relevant business areas, identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Enforce data security best practices implementing user access control, encryption, pseudonymisation of Personal Identifiable Information and auditing to ensure data governance.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance and operation of the centrally managed data processes and the underlying frameworks for our cloud-based enterprise data lake platform
  • Planning and coordinating the integration of additional data sources and developing the loading pipelines in the team and together with external partners
  • Analysing data for possible inconsistencies that may skew analytical results
  • Evaluating and documenting database changes or refinements
  • Applying best practices when storing, organising, cleaning and mining data
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures for effective data handling and management
  • Assessing systems and recommending necessary software, hardware and storage upgrades
  • Ensuring that a company's data management protocols are in line with regulatory standards
  • Providing guidance and training for junior team members
  • Streamlining data collection and analysis procedures to ensure fast access to metrics
  • Provide development, support, maintenance, governance and technical architecture for the enterprise reporting tools which are currently Microsoft Power BI
  • Define and recommend BI reporting standards, processes and technologies.
About You

You must possess a genuine desire to help the community, be empathetic and attentive to our customer's needs.

You will have several years of leadership and are able to deliver feedback to multiple stakeholders, You are great at resource prioritisation.

You have a degree in a subject like computer science / computer engineering and have a solid knowledge of big data tool like Azure, as well as database systems like SQL.

You will have experience in the following:

  • Project experience in the area of PowerBi and or advanced analytics.
  • The design of enterprise data lake / analytic platforms or data warehouses and also maintaining user communities and managing stakeholders
  • Supporting and implementing complex data management systems.
  • Azure Data Technologies such as Data Warehousing, Data Factory, Purview, Data Lake and Data bricks
