Position Overview

At J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, our Climate, Nature and Social Risk Management team plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm's strategy for managing climate and nature-related risks, encompassing both transition and physical challenges. We are seeking a candidate who possesses exceptional analytical, research, and communication skills to spearhead the development of transition risk capabilities across the organization. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage in a dynamic and rapidly advancing sector within the financial services landscape, gaining significant visibility and impact within J.P. Morgan.

As the Lead Analyst for Climate and Transition Risk, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research, executing quantitative analyses, and managing data using Python or other relevant tools. A profound understanding of climate and nature risks is essential, along with a strong motivation to enhance our comprehensive risk management framework within an ambitious timeline.

You will collaborate with various internal stakeholders, gaining insights into the multifaceted implications of climate change on a large-scale financial institution like J.P. Morgan Chase Bank.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the analytical frameworks for Climate, Nature and Social Risk transition, focusing on the development of methodologies and conducting research on sectoral and corporate climate mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct comprehensive research on diverse climate and nature-related issues impacting the firm's operations.
  • Serve as an authority on climate and nature datasets, deriving insights on significant trends and collaborating with data providers to enhance our understanding.
  • Design, maintain, and analyze outputs from climate risk assessment models and associated tools.
  • Oversee the documentation process for climate and nature risk assessment models and tools.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and requirements concerning climate and nature-related risk management.
  • Lead the formulation of internal climate-nature scenarios for risk management applications.
Qualifications and Skills
  • A strong academic background (2:1 equivalent or higher) in a climate-related or sustainability discipline, or in economics.
  • Relevant experience in climate stress testing, transition modelling, or sectoral decarbonization pathways.
  • Solid quantitative skills are essential.
  • A demonstrated ability to take ownership and lead a team in delivering high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and succinctly to senior management.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Exceptional analytical skills, proficient in statistical modelling (Python) and adept at handling large datasets.
  • Proficiency in creating impactful presentations and documentation, with a keen attention to detail.
