About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Counsellor to join our team at HOME, a mental health and emotional wellbeing hub for young people in Barnsley. As a Counsellor, you will provide 1-2-1 therapeutic interventions and counselling for young people aged between 11 and 25 through our Wellbeing Programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide up to 20 therapy sessions to each client, allowing them to explore issues and develop coping strategies.
  • Support initial assessments and allocation of young people to team members.
  • Ensure record keeping and session note taking is up to date and confidential.
  • Support bank counsellors with practical tasks such as access to the building and necessary paperwork.
  • Participate in peer supervision with other team members and engage in regular supervision with a qualified supervisor.
  • Ensure the safety of young people is always considered, managing risk factors following Chilypep Safeguarding protocols.
Working Conditions

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check. Travel will be required across Barnsley, as well as to regional and occasionally national meetings and training events.
