Ilford, Greater London, United Kingdom Barnardos Full time

Service Goals

The Rugby Children & Family Centre aims to enhance the prospects and life opportunities for all children, young individuals, and their families by providing effective preventative and early intervention services, particularly targeting those who face significant challenges.

This position is situated within Barnardo's Rugby District Locality.

Key Responsibilities for this Role

The Practitioner will be responsible for delivering direct support to families through individualized assistance, group sessions, activities, and educational courses. This may be conducted through various methods, including virtual platforms and phone communication, but primarily in person. The main focus will be on children aged 0-11 years and their caregivers, along with some programs for young individuals up to 19 years (25 years for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Our mission is to create the most significant impact during the critical developmental stages of a child's life.

The successful candidate must be adaptable to work across the Rugby District in our centers and community locations, as outreach is a vital and regular aspect of our operations. Therefore, having access to personal transportation is essential.

This is an As & When position to provide support during staff training, annual leave, or illness. Consequently, this role requires flexibility from both the organization and the candidate, who may be requested to work during evenings and weekends.

We are seeking to appoint a seasoned Practitioner, but we are also open to candidates who are dedicated to obtaining a level 3 childcare qualification. This role is dynamic and varied, requiring the ability to work independently (lone working) as well as collaboratively within a team to deliver a range of services.

  • Facilitate enjoyable and engaging activities to help children develop positive social and emotional skills;
  • Conduct engaging sessions for Young People;
  • Design activities in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS);
  • Establish positive relationships with parents and caregivers;
  • Engage in sometimes challenging conversations with parents;
  • Provide guidance and support, or direct parents to the most suitable services.

Job-Specific Qualifications:

It is crucial that the ideal candidate can demonstrate experience and/or understanding of the following:

  • Knowledge and practical experience of the EYFS, including a childcare qualification at least at level 2.
  • Experience in working with and supporting young children and their families.
  • Confidence in effective communication with parents, colleagues, and other professionals.
  • Experience in delivering Early Years services in community settings is preferred.
  • Qualification to deliver Baby Massage and Chatter Matters courses is advantageous.

When submitting your application, please highlight your skills, knowledge, and experience in relation to the Person Specification, Job Description, and Additional Information document (if applicable). This should be done with an understanding of the context of the service described.

Compensation and Benefits

We recognize that our team members go above and beyond in delivering our essential services, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's. We are dedicated to a new approach to compensation and benefits, ensuring it is equitable, appealing, and progressive, which was implemented recently. This positive change will assist us in supporting our team members to thrive and grow in their careers at Barnardo's, providing clear pathways for advancement.

While the complete pay band and salary range are advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band, ensuring that pay steps are available to reward our team members annually based on their contributions and alignment with our values.
