Volunteer Engagement Coordinator - North West of England & West Midlands

At Barnardo's, our charity shops serve as more than just retail spaces; they are vibrant hubs where individuals can discover distinctive items, promote sustainable fashion and home goods, donate cherished belongings, or volunteer, all while aiding our mission to support children, young people, and families.

Volunteers play a crucial role in our organization. Annually, approximately 17,000 individuals contribute around 1.8 million hours to assist Barnardo's in enhancing the lives of children, young people, and families. The essential work we accomplish would not be feasible without the commitment, expertise, and enthusiasm of volunteers throughout the charity. Consequently, Barnardo's has initiated a significant national effort to attract more volunteers to ensure the success of our charity shops across the UK.

This position is critical to the effectiveness of the recruitment campaign. As a member of the Retail Operations team, the selected candidate will facilitate the efficient and professional recruitment of volunteers.

The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will deliver comprehensive, proactive, and professional volunteer recruitment support services to the Retail Operations team, aiding in the realization of the Retail & Trading Strategic objectives and the Barnardo's Volunteering Strategy.

This role is one of four available across the UK. Please ensure you apply to the vacancy that corresponds to your region.

Please be aware that due to the high volume of applications for certain positions, this advertisement may close prior to the indicated closing date.

Compensation & Benefits

We recognize that our team members go above and beyond in fulfilling our essential work, motivated by their dedication and commitment to Barnardo's. We also understand that we can only achieve our goals and improve outcomes for more children through the talent, hard work, and creativity of our people.

For these reasons, we are dedicated to a new approach to compensation and benefits, ensuring it is equitable, appealing, and progressive, which was implemented in April 2023. This represents a positive shift for the charity and is part of our Strategy. It will help us support our team members in feeling valued, thriving, and advancing in their careers at Barnardo's, ultimately providing clear pathways for progression in both their careers and compensation.

While the complete pay band and salary range are advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band. This ensures that pay increments are available to reward our team members annually based on their contributions to excellence and alignment with our values and behaviors. More details on Barnardo's compensation framework can be found upon application.
