Barnardo's Threads Service, in collaboration with Renfrewshire Social Work, is seeking a Family Engagement Specialist for our Early Help initiative.
This position has been established to offer an alternative to traditional social work interventions for families facing challenges that, without assistance, may escalate to necessitate statutory involvement.
Family Engagement Specialists will adopt a strengths-based methodology in their interactions with families, collaborating to identify and enhance strengths and protective factors. The focus will be on achieving:
- Enhanced family relationships
- Improved family dynamics
- More effective parenting practices
- Better health and wellbeing for children, young people, and parents/carers
- Decreased social isolation and strengthened community connections
- Improved access for families to additional community resources.
The specialist will possess a solid understanding of the broader support systems available through voluntary and community organizations and will refer families to these resources as needed. This approach aims to maximize family engagement with sustainable community-based support within their locality.
Key responsibilities include assessment and planning, as well as providing parenting and family support. Desired outcomes encompass Enhanced Family Wellbeing, Reduced Isolation, and Increased Community Connectedness.
