Ilford, Greater London, United Kingdom Barnardos Full time

Volunteer Engagement Coordinator - North West of England & West Midlands

At Barnardo's, our charity shops serve as more than just retail spaces; they are vibrant hubs where individuals can discover unique items, embrace sustainable fashion, donate cherished belongings, or volunteer, all while contributing to our mission of supporting children, young people, and families.

Volunteers play a crucial role in our organization. Annually, approximately 17,000 individuals dedicate 1.8 million hours to assist Barnardo's in enhancing the lives of children, young people, and families. The essential work we undertake would not be feasible without the commitment, expertise, and enthusiasm of our volunteers throughout the charity. Consequently, Barnardo's has initiated a significant national campaign aimed at recruiting additional volunteers to ensure the continued success of our charity shops across the UK.

This position is integral to the success of our recruitment initiative. As part of the Retail Operations team, the successful applicant will aid in the efficient and timely recruitment of volunteers.

The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator will deliver comprehensive, proactive, and professional volunteer recruitment support services to the Retail Operations team, contributing to the realization of the Retail & Trading Strategic objectives and the Barnardo's Volunteering Strategy.

This role is one of four positions available across the UK. Please ensure you apply for the vacancy that aligns with your region.

Compensation & Benefits

We recognize that our team members go above and beyond in fulfilling our vital mission, fueled by their passion and dedication to Barnardo's. We understand that we can only achieve our goals and deliver better outcomes for more children through the talent, hard work, and creativity of our people.

For these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to compensation and benefits, ensuring it is equitable, appealing, and progressive, which was implemented in April 2023. This initiative represents a positive change for the charity and is part of our strategic vision. It will support our team members in thriving and growing in their career journey at Barnardo's, providing clear pathways for advancement in both their roles and remuneration.

While the complete pay band and salary range are advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint within the minimum to mid-point of the pay band, ensuring that pay increments are available to reward our team members annually based on their contributions to excellence and alignment with our values and behaviors. Further details on Barnardo's compensation framework can be found upon application.
