Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Research Manager to oversee the monitoring, evaluation, and learning functions within a prestigious portfolio of health research funding programs. This role is crucial in ensuring the effective implementation of strategies that enhance data monitoring and reporting across our research initiatives.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Research Manager - Monitoring and Evaluation and will play a key role in developing and executing methodologies for award-level data oversight and scheme-level evaluation approaches, including assessing research impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the annual reporting cycle: Assist in managing the annual reporting process, which includes maintaining necessary documentation, organizing workshops for award holders, and compiling annual reports. Provide constructive feedback on reports to ensure alignment with goals and governance standards.
- Innovate annual reporting methodologies: Lead the assessment and enhancement of current reporting processes, ensuring they are fit for purpose and provide comprehensive evidence of progress and impact. Oversee the identification and integration of digital solutions for reporting.
- Conduct data analysis: Support both quantitative and qualitative analysis of project data across the portfolio, producing visual representations of findings to illustrate progress and outcomes effectively.
- Offer versatile support to the team: Adopt a flexible approach to assist with various tasks within the team, particularly during peak periods.
Qualifications:
Essential Criteria:
- A Master's or PhD in biomedical or health sciences research, or equivalent experience in a relevant sector.
- A foundational understanding of funding award monitoring and program evaluation processes.
- Experience in one of the following areas: Major research funding/management, research management within healthcare settings, clinical trial coordination, or academia.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to produce detailed reports and analyze data with precision.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to foster effective working relationships.
Desirable Criteria:
- Familiarity with the UK's health and care research landscape.
- Experience in research grants management and/or evaluation.
- Skills in stakeholder engagement across diverse organizations.

Flexibility:
This position offers flexibility in working hours, with opportunities for part-time arrangements or job sharing.
Contract Duration: This role is offered for a fixed term as maternity cover.
