Senior Nuclear Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Safety Specialist to join our team on a major construction project in the nuclear industry.

About the Role
  • Provide leadership in the development of nuclear safety cases, including periodic reviews and assessments, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the review of submissions pertaining to system and operational safety planning and execution throughout the project's life cycle, ensuring that all safety protocols are met.
  • Contribute to the engineering design in the development of systems involving nuclear safety requirements to ensure safety case optimization and minimize risks.
  • Interface with engineering, clients, and regulators regularly to discuss progress, receive feedback, and ensure customer satisfaction with safety case approach and development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver safety cases to regulators, including practical approaches to issues and negotiation of acceptance, to ensure that all safety protocols are met.
  • Understand and apply site license conditions and pertinent nuclear safety requirements to enable effective project execution and minimize risks.
  • Implement and maintain safety controls within the safety case, including temporary shielding, containment, and radiological control measures, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Deliver analysis, safety cases, and technical reports to regulators to support project milestones and achieving approved documents.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university or college.
  • Previous experience in developing and delivering safety cases to regulators, including direct experience of interfacing with regulators.
  • Professional or Charter Engineer License/Qualification.
