In addition to decommissioning, NRS oversees the operation of the hydroelectric facility at Maentwrog and manages the clean-up and demolition efforts at the Dounreay site, which was once a hub for fast reactor research.

The Role

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our vital mission of managing the UK's civil nuclear legacy. We seek individuals who are committed to excellence and innovation within a collaborative team environment.

As a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical execution of projects, collaborating closely with contractors to ensure successful design, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering solutions that are both innovative and practical.
  • Produce and review technical specifications for projects.
  • Oversee detailed design activities in compliance with established standards and regulations.
  • Prepare modification proposals and serve as a Nominated Responsible Engineer (NRE) for plant changes.
  • Provide technical oversight during commissioning and decommissioning phases.
  • Ensure a smooth transition of project handover to operational teams, including the provision of necessary documentation and training.
  • Maintain compliance with Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications & Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of an HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Experience in a mechanical engineering role within an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with nuclear or conventional project engineering.
  • Understanding of national engineering standards and safety regulations.
Benefits

NRS offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Generous annual leave entitlement with options to buy or sell leave.
  • Participation in a company bonus scheme.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  • Access to professional development and training opportunities.
Additional Information

Security clearance is required for this role, and candidates must be able to obtain it. We value diversity and encourage applications from all backgrounds, particularly those underrepresented in our workforce.
