Position Overview

Dr P A A Wood & Partners is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialist to enhance our healthcare team. This position is primarily full-time, although we are open to flexible hours for the ideal candidate. We require a registered nurse with a minimum of six months' experience in managing chronic conditions, particularly Diabetes. Familiarity with other chronic conditions such as COPD, Asthma, CHD, and CVD is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Proficient management of chronic diseases, particularly Diabetes.
  • Ideally, experience in managing COPD, Asthma, CHD, and CVD.
  • Conducting lung function assessments, including Spirometry and FeNO testing.
  • Promoting health and wellness among patients.
  • Administering national immunization and vaccination programs, including participation in seasonal flu and COVID-19 campaigns.
  • Performing cervical cytology screenings.
  • Providing wound care and management.
  • Conducting contraception reviews.
  • Offering travel health advice and immunizations.
  • Maintaining continuous professional development and staying updated with evidence-based practices.
  • Supporting and mentoring Student Nurses during their placements.
  • Understanding adult and child safeguarding responsibilities and local referral processes.
  • Adhering to infection control protocols and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Current NMC Registration.
  • Nursing degree or equivalent nursing qualification.
  • Diabetes Diploma or equivalent training/qualification.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support & Anaphylaxis Update (must be current).
  • Asthma Diploma or equivalent.
  • COPD Diploma or equivalent.
  • ARTP Spirometry Performing and ideally Interpretation certification.
  • Registration on the Cervical Cytology Sample Taking Register.
  • Travel Health 2-day Initiation Certificate & updates.
  • Childhood Immunization 2-day Initiation Certificate.

Experience Requirements

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of six months' experience in chronic disease management for Diabetes.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to patient care.
  • Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in managing chronic diseases such as COPD, Asthma, CHD, and CVD.
  • Familiarity with Spirometry and FeNO testing.
  • Experience in delivering national immunization and vaccination programs.
  • Background in cervical cytology screening.
  • Experience in wound care and management.

  • Home visits for chronic disease management.
  • Familiarity with SystmOne software.
