Job Summary

The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated professional to join our team as a Bariatric Clinical Nurse Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our patients and contribute to the development of our Bariatric service.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist and holistic assessments of patients and carers' needs, and develop individualized care plans to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Act as a patient advocate, maintaining confidentiality and dignity, and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.
  • Provide education and support to ward staff and learners on all aspects of bariatric care, and contribute to the development of guidelines and pathways.
  • Attend bariatric clinics, providing support, advice, and education to patients and their significant others on the management of their care.
  • Contribute to the operational and strategic development of the Bariatric service, and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to enhance communication and relationships between patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience of working within the Surgical division, with a strong understanding of diseases and complexities related to obesity.
  • Knowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda for the obese patient, and experience of mentoring and developing staff.
