Position Overview

This role involves a rotational structure, requiring the individual to engage in various sectors of Maternity Services, delivering comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal support. The successful candidate will actively contribute to quality enhancement initiatives and service innovation.

The practitioner will undergo an annual performance review and engage in ongoing professional development. It is anticipated that midwives will operate independently within the established Trust guidelines and their professional capacity.

Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity is available for a newly qualified midwife to become part of our preceptorship midwifery program at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. You will integrate into our dedicated and passionate midwifery team as a rotational midwife. Our supportive midwifery staff will assist you in your transition from student to fully qualified midwife through supernumerary shifts and a structured support framework. You will join a well-established team committed to the ongoing advancement of women-centered care and improved birthing experiences.

As a valued team member, you will embody professionalism, reliability, safety, and compassion towards women, infants, and their families. Collaboration within our multidisciplinary team will be essential in an environment that fosters openness, support, and empowerment.

Upon successful completion of your preceptorship year, you will be eligible for a Band 6 midwife position.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Registered Midwife (or awaiting PIN)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively
  • Professional demeanor and conduct
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to write clearly and legibly in English
  • Capacity to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Proficient in computer use
  • Knowledge of evidence-based and research-informed practices
  • Willingness to pursue further education
  • Familiarity with NMC Code of Conduct, Guidelines, and Professional Practice
  • Awareness of vulnerable adult and child protection issues
  • Good attendance record
  • Flexible approach to working hours and practices
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check against vulnerable groups barred lists
