Position Overview

This is a dynamic role requiring the post holder to engage across various sectors of Maternity Services, delivering comprehensive antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal support. The successful candidate will be involved in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and driving service advancements.

The role includes an annual performance review and opportunities for ongoing professional growth. Midwives are expected to operate independently within the established guidelines and their professional scope.

Key Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity is available for a newly qualified midwife to become part of our preceptorship midwifery program at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. You will integrate into our dedicated and passionate midwifery team as a rotational midwife. Our supportive team will assist you in your transition from student to fully qualified midwife, providing supernumerary shifts and a structured support framework. You will join a well-established group committed to promoting women-centered care and improving birth experiences.

As a team member, you will embody professionalism, reliability, safety, and compassion towards women, infants, and their families. Collaboration within our multidisciplinary team is essential in an environment that fosters openness, support, and empowerment.

Your expertise will ensure the delivery of high-quality care to mothers and their caregivers, bolstered by our comprehensive in-house training programs and accessible supervision.

Upon successful completion of your preceptorship year, you will advance to a Band 6 midwife position.

Flexible working hours, including day, weekend, and night shifts, are available to accommodate our expanding population and service requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Registered Midwife (or awaiting PIN)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively
  • Professional demeanor and conduct
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in written English
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice and research
  • Willingness to pursue further education
  • Familiarity with NMC Code of Conduct and Professional Practice Guidelines
  • Awareness of vulnerable adult and child protection issues
  • Strong attendance record
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS check with vulnerable groups barred lists
