Position Overview

The ideal candidate will be tasked with providing exceptional, patient-focused, empathetic care, emphasizing health promotion and independence while operating under both direct and indirect oversight.

This role involves collaboration within a dedicated clinical and care team, ensuring that care delivery is tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.

The practitioner will adapt their approach to service delivery based on the requirements of patients and the healthcare service.

As a Healthcare Support Associate in this role, you will execute specific clinical and care responsibilities to a high standard, under the guidance of a registered nurse.

The successful candidate will uphold the professional standards set forth by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department to provide care and support to patients during their hospital stay.

- Administer medications within the professional boundaries and competencies established by relevant authorities.

- Supervise non-registered staff, including Healthcare Assistants.

- Contribute to the comprehensive assessment and management of patients' care requirements.

- Deliver evidence-based care and identify preventative measures and anticipatory care needs in consultation with registered nursing staff.

- Operate independently within your scope of practice.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
  • Nursing Associate foundation degree qualification.

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Proficient in effective communication (written, verbal, and non-verbal) with patients, relatives, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to engage in reflective practice and clinical supervision.
  • Capacity to manage the unpredictable nature of workload and individual patient interactions.
  • Ability to foster effective relationships with patients, their families, caregivers, and colleagues.
  • Capability to support, supervise, assess, and serve as a role model for nursing associate students and other learners within the clinical environment.
  • Understanding of the Nursing Associate's role within the nursing and interdisciplinary team and its contribution to service development.

Desirable Skills

  • Competency in Venipuncture and Cannulation.

Required Experience

  • Experience in healthcare settings.
