About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to fill the position of Training Programme Director for Paediatrics (Academic) at NHS England. This is a unique opportunity to lead and support the delivery of academic training and education within the specialty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Specialty's Regional Training Programme, focusing on academic trainees and ensuring alignment with national standards and guidelines.
  • Monitor and mentor trainees undertaking Out of Programme Research, providing guidance and support to ensure successful completion.
  • Recruit and select candidates for Academic training posts and programmes, ensuring a strong and diverse pool of applicants.
  • Contribute to postgraduate programme management, including assessments, progression, rotations, support, and remediation, as well as OOP management, trainee management, careers support, less than full-time training, inter-deanery transfer, academic training, and other related work-streams.
Requirements
  • Experience as an NHS Consultant with an academic track record, knowledge of the London research landscape, and understanding of specialty training across the region.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-professional team.
  • Knowledge of the NHS, its structures, and processes, including understanding workforce matters.
  • Ability to problem-solve, maintain objectivity, and establish credibility with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with a strong sense of vision and ability to innovate.
