We are thrilled to announce a remarkable opportunity to take on a pivotal role in leading a cohesive and vibrant Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).

We seek a dedicated professional capable of overseeing the daily functions of the CMHT, offering guidance and support to a diverse team of health and social care professionals. The successful candidate will manage both Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside Council personnel.

Candidates should possess a Registered Mental Health Practitioner qualification (CPN, Social Worker, OT) with current registration or an equivalent professional qualification in health or social care, along with substantial experience as a senior mental health practitioner at Band 6 or an equivalent level within a CMHT or comparable service dealing with clients with severe or enduring mental health conditions.

Main Responsibilities

The appointed individual will be responsible for the management and oversight of the Community Mental Health Team.

This role involves leading an integrated health and social care team, where the manager will supervise both health and social care staff and ensure adherence to the standards set forth by the policies and procedures of both Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside Borough Council.

You will provide strong leadership to ensure the team operates efficiently and effectively, meeting all key performance indicators while delivering a safe and high-quality service.

Person Specification Essential Criteria
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist with current registration or an equivalent professional qualification in health or social care.
  • Educated to degree level or currently pursuing such education. Formal teaching qualification is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and Care Programme Approach (CPA).
  • Ability to operate and make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proven experience in mental health assessment and risk management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a skilled team.
  • Capability to manage emotions and effectively handle challenging situations.
  • Experience with governance processes, including responding to complaints and conducting investigations.
  • Willingness to travel across the Trust footprint as required.
  • Commitment to uphold the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Diversity policies.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience in budget management and performance management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with the Care Act.
  • Ability to provide education and training to various levels of professional staff.
