Bilingual Support Assistant

We are looking for a passionate and committed Bilingual Support Assistant to become part of the vibrant team at a client secondary school. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in aiding our bilingual students in their journey to mastering the English language while facilitating their integration into the school environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Bilingual Students: Provide tailored support to bilingual students, helping them enhance their English language proficiency through individualized assistance in classroom settings and small group activities.
  • Collaborate with Educators: Partner with classroom educators to modify lesson plans and resources to cater to the needs of bilingual learners, ensuring their full participation in the curriculum.
  • Track Progress: Aid in evaluating and tracking the progress of bilingual students, offering constructive feedback to educators and families regarding their development.
  • Cultural Inclusion: Promote an inclusive atmosphere by encouraging cultural awareness and understanding among all students, fostering peer relationships.
  • Resource Creation: Help develop engaging materials and resources specifically designed to meet the needs of bilingual learners.
  • Engage Families: Facilitate communication between school staff and non-English speaking families, encouraging their involvement in their children's education.

Candidate Profile:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics or equivalent; relevant qualifications in educational support or teaching assistance are preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with children or young people, especially those who speak English as an additional language, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting diverse learners.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating initiative when required.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous but not mandatory.

All quoted pay rates will include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent role in the future.
