Senior Hand Therapy Specialist

Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapy Advanced Practitioner to enhance our Hand Therapy Service in North Devon, focusing on both surgical and non-surgical interventions for hand, wrist, and elbow conditions.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will either be at Band 7 level or an accomplished Band 6 with the potential to advance to Band 7 within a 6 to 9-month timeframe. You will manage a diverse caseload of patients referred from various sources, including Orthopaedic Hand Surgeons, General Orthopaedic Surgeons, and GPs.
The role involves collaboration with the Plastic Surgery team and the provision of clinical supervision and training to other healthcare professionals across North Devon. You will work closely with Hand Surgeons in clinics, adopting a multidisciplinary approach to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should possess prior experience in Hand Therapy and ideally hold a British Association of Hand Therapy accreditation or be willing to pursue this qualification. A solid understanding of conditions affecting the hand and upper limb, along with core assessment and treatment skills, is essential. Advanced splinting skills and the ability to engage in further training, including injections and theatre assistance, will be beneficial for your professional development.
If you are an Occupational Therapist, you may also be required to provide support for the Rheumatology Outpatient Service during staff absences.

Work Schedule
The role requires a commitment of full-time hours, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and bank holiday work to support inpatient services.
