About You

The Ideal Candidate

The GRAHAM Group is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the management of design and technical teams for projects and tenders. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tenders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the design process, with a focus on buildability and efficiency, to ensure the optimum solution is arrived at.
  • Develop a Design Deliverables schedule in coordination with the designers.
  • Liaise with tender and project teams to ensure design is developed in line with expectations.
  • Ensure a design program is prepared and agreed with each designer.
  • Incorporate the design program into the main program.
  • Meet with designers on a regular basis to ensure the design is developing as planned.
  • Monitor progress of the design and works and update the program as necessary.
  • Ensure the design is managed in accordance with the relevant quality procedures.
  • Ensure Principal Designer duties are fulfilled for pre-construction operations under the CDM Regulations.
  • Provide design input as required for tender submissions.
  • Liaise with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and third parties as appropriate.
  • Provide technical input and advice as required for live projects and tenders.
  • Provide input into programs where required, including tender, design, construction, and Variation/Compensation Event programs.
  • Coordinate the design of temporary works and where appropriate design elements of temporary works.
  • Undertake a review of design drawings and raise technical queries accordingly.
  • Provide construction methodology input and incorporate in the program where required.
  • Manage the flow of information from the design team and advise the project team of any impact on progress and program.
  • Provide necessary information to the Procurement Department to enable the procurement of materials and subcontractors.
  • Prepare handover documents.
  • Introduce improvements and innovations where appropriate.
