Position: Special Educational Needs Support Assistant

Working Days:
5 days a week, Monday to Friday, during term time only.

Role Overview:

As a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant, you will provide essential in-class assistance to students in Key Stage 3 and 4 who have special educational needs. You will collaborate closely with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) and the SEN team to ensure that the necessary support is effectively reviewed and delivered.

Your responsibilities will include working directly with individual students under the guidance of teaching staff, ensuring consistent support tailored to each pupil's unique educational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Implement planned educational activities and teaching programs as agreed with the teacher, making adjustments to meet the specific needs of the students, both academically and physically.
  2. Engage in the planning and evaluation of learning activities alongside the teacher, focusing on the needs of the students.
  3. Encourage independent learning and promote inclusion for the students you support.
  4. Utilize prior experience in working with students with special needs and in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  5. Exhibit adaptability and flexibility to cater to the individual needs of each student.
