Electrical Installation and Maintenance Engineer in Manufacturing

Location: Newton Abbot

Salary: Up to £38K Per Annum + Annual Bonus + Overtime (OTE £42K+)

We are collaborating with a specialized organization engaged in diverse engineering activities, including manufacturing, design, repair, service, installation, and supply. We are seeking an experienced Electrician/Electrical Engineer to work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer. This role will encompass a variety of tasks, including Panel Building, Service, Maintenance, Installation, and Commissioning.

The company operates across multiple sectors, ensuring that the work remains dynamic and engaging, ideal for self-motivated individuals and adept problem solvers.

The position involves a combination of workshop duties and on-site responsibilities.

Involvement with Manufacturing equipment, agricultural machinery, and MOD (Ships and Submarines) is expected, with a preference for candidates possessing experience in hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and construct electrical control panels, including the installation of cable management systems such as cable trays and conduits.
  • Execute electrical builds, repairs, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and installations in both workshop and field settings as necessary.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams to establish the layout of electrical wiring.
  • Conduct tests on electrical control systems and components to verify correct configuration.
  • Diagnose faults in electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using various diagnostic tools.
  • Test and document electrical components of hydraulic/pneumatic systems and compressors in both the workshop and at client locations.
  • Participate in the electrical installation of hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customer sites as part of a collaborative team.
  • Be prepared to respond to breakdowns at short notice, with potential for overtime and weekend work.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as an electrician or electrical engineer within a manufacturing or engineering context.
  • Skilled in the use of power and hand tools for electrical tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must possess a valid UK driving license for a minimum of three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience in factory maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and procedures, including:
    • Machinery Directive
    • Safety of Machinery
    • Low Voltage Directive
  • ECS Gold Card for Maintenance or Installation Electrician.
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • NVQ Level 3 certification.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
