Electrical Installation and Maintenance Engineer in Manufacturing

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic team within a specialist organization engaged in various engineering activities including manufacturing, design, repair, service, installation, and supply.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer, taking on a hands-on role that encompasses a range of responsibilities including panel building, servicing, maintenance, installation, and commissioning.

This position offers a diverse work environment as the company operates across multiple industries, making each day unique and engaging. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated and adept at problem-solving.

The role involves a combination of workshop duties and on-site work, providing exposure to manufacturing equipment, agricultural machinery, and MOD systems such as ships and submarines. Experience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and construct electrical control panels, including the installation of cable management systems such as trays and conduits.
  • Perform electrical builds, repairs, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and installations both in the workshop and at client locations.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams to establish the layout of electrical wiring.
  • Conduct tests on electrical control systems and components to verify correct configuration.
  • Utilize various diagnostic tools for troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Document and test electrical components of hydraulic/pneumatic systems and compressors both in-house and on-site.
  • Collaborate with a team to install hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customer locations.
  • Be prepared to respond to breakdowns at short notice, with potential for overtime and weekend work.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as an electrician or electrical engineer in a manufacturing or engineering setting.
  • Proficient in the use of power and hand tools for electrical tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must possess a valid UK driving license for a minimum of three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience in factory maintenance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and procedures, including:
    • Machinery Directive
    • Safety of Machinery
    • Low Voltage Directive
  • ECS Gold Card for maintenance or installation electricians.
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • NVQ Level 3 certification.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
