Electrician / Electrical Engineer

Newton Abbot

Up to £36K Per Annum + Annual Bonus + Overtime (OTE £40K+)

I am working with a specialist business with a wide range of engineering operations including: manufacturing, design, repair, service, installation and supply. We are looking for an Electrician/Electrical Engineer to be hands on in working alongside the Senior Electrical Enginer. The role will be varied and will involve Panel Building, Service, Maintenance Installation and Commissioning.

The company work in a variety of industries so the work is always varied and interesting it will suit those who are self starters and problem solvers.

There will be a mix of workshop based work and work at customer sites.

We do not require those that come from an industrial background, although experience in these areas would be great we can provide training and development to those with a good electrical foundation, even if it is only domestic work. Full training and support, including qualifications can be supported for the right person.

Key responsibilities

  • You will be required to layout and build electrical control panels, installation of cable management systems cable tray and conduit etc.
  • Carry out electrical builds, repairs, fault diagnosis, commissioning and installations both in our workshop and on site as required.
  • Read electrical drawings and technical diagrams to determine layout of electrical wiring.
  • Test electrical control systems and components to ensure they are correctly configured.
  • Fault finding of electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems using various diagnostic tools.
  • Test and document electrical aspects of hydraulic/pneumatic systems & compressors in the workshop and on customer s site.
  • To electrically install hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customers premises as part of a team.
  • May be required to attend breakdowns at very short notice, some overtime and weekend working will be required.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as an electrician or electrical engineer
  • Proficient in using power/hand tools for electrical work.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read schematics/technical drawings.
  • Detail orientated with strong organisational skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must have held a UK driving licence for a minimum of three years.

Desirable Experience

  • An understanding of hydraulic /pneumatic drawings
  • Factory maintenance experience
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, regulation and procedures:
    • Machinery directive (phone number removed)
    • Safety of Machinery (phone number removed)
    • Low voltage directive
  • ECS gold card Maintenance or installation electrician
  • PLC control system knowledge, training will be provided for right candidate.
  • NVQ Level 3
  • 18th Edition
