Electrical Installation and Maintenance Engineer in Manufacturing

Location: Newton Abbot

Salary: Up to £38K Per Annum + Annual Bonus + Overtime (OTE £42K+)

We are collaborating with a specialized organization that engages in diverse engineering activities, including manufacturing, design, repair, service, installation, and supply. We are seeking an experienced Electrician/Electrical Engineer to work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer. This position offers a dynamic work environment, involving tasks such as Panel Building, Service, Maintenance, Installation, and Commissioning.

The company operates across various sectors, ensuring that the work remains diverse and engaging, ideal for self-motivated individuals who excel in problem-solving.

Responsibilities will include a combination of workshop tasks and on-site assignments.

Involvement with Manufacturing equipment, agricultural machinery, and MOD (Ships and Submarines) is expected, and familiarity with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and construct electrical control panels, including the installation of cable management systems such as cable trays and conduits.
  • Perform electrical builds, repairs, fault diagnosis, commissioning, and installations in both workshop and on-site settings.
  • Interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams to determine wiring layouts.
  • Test electrical control systems and components to verify correct configurations.
  • Conduct fault finding on electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using various diagnostic tools.
  • Document and test electrical components of hydraulic/pneumatic systems and compressors in both workshop and customer environments.
  • Collaborate with a team to electrically install hydraulic/pneumatic systems at customer locations.
  • Be prepared to respond to breakdowns at short notice, with some overtime and weekend work required.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as an electrician or electrical engineer within a manufacturing or engineering context.
  • Skilled in using power and hand tools for electrical tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must possess a valid UK driving license for a minimum of three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with hydraulic/pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience in factory maintenance.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and procedures, including:
    • Machinery Directive
    • Safety of Machinery
    • Low Voltage Directive
  • ECS Gold Card for Maintenance or Installation Electrician.
  • Knowledge of PLC control systems; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • NVQ Level 3 certification.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
