Job Description

ROLE: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Premier Group Recruitment

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £50,000 - £70,000, dependent on experience

Premier Group Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. Our client is a leading manufacturer of specialist equipment for the Marine industry.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Will have a strong background in mechanical design engineering, with at least 5 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Will possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to own projects, work independently, and implement their own ideas.
  • Will have strong 3D CAD skills, preferably with Siemens NX, and experience with PDM/PLM software.
  • Will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Will have excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well in a small multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for using NX for concept design and producing technical drawings.
  • Will implement PDM software and be involved in hiring and growing the Design Engineering team.
  • Will liaise with manufacturing providers and be involved in final assembly of products.
  • Will create documentation for design, project reports, and plans, and update 3D models and drawings.
  • Will input parts into the MRP system, creating BOMs, and check drawings for sign off.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and tight tolerances.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a small multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
