Job Description

ROLE: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Premier Group

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £50,000 - £70,000, dependent on experience

Premier Group is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment for the Marine industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and equipment using Siemens NX software
  • Implement PDM software to manage design data and workflows
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of Mechanical Design Engineers
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers to ensure timely and cost-effective production
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement design solutions
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design reports and project plans
  • Update 3D models and drawings to reflect design changes and improvements
  • Input parts into the MRP system to create BOMs and ensure accurate inventory management
  • Review and approve design drawings for sign-off
  • Work collaboratively with a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
  • Strong 3D CAD skills with Siemens NX software
  • PDM / PLM experience is beneficial
  • Knowledge of composites and experience in Marine, Subsea, Aerospace, Automotive, or related industries is desirable
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in MS Office and able to work in a fast-paced environment
