Job Description

ROLE: Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION: Premier Group

TERM: Permanent

SALARY: £50,000 - £70,000, dependent on experience

Premier Group is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and development of mechanical systems for the Marine industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, including concept design, technical drawings, and project reports.
  • Implement and manage the use of PDM software to ensure efficient design and development processes.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a team of design engineers to support the growth of the Design Engineering department.
  • Liaise with manufacturing providers to ensure timely and cost-effective production of mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other components.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, technical drawings, and project reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, and apply this knowledge to improve design and development processes.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position.
  • Strong 3D CAD skills with Siemens NX or similar software.
  • PDM / PLM experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of composites is a plus.
  • Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a small team.
