Role Responsibilities:

We are seeking a qualified Maintenance Fitter (Mechanical) to join our large manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a flexible approach and the ability to collaborate effectively within an established team.

The successful candidate will be tasked with performing preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment, as well as addressing emergency breakdowns throughout the facility. Responsibilities will also include involvement in the design, installation, and relocation of machinery, along with the overhaul and repair of equipment. Ensuring that all machinery and equipment on site are safe, operational, and fit for purpose is essential.

  • Support all site operations, including machinery, equipment, and services to maintain continuous functionality.
  • Repair and service mechanical systems, including retrofitting and upgrades.
  • Ensure safe operation and fitness for purpose of servicing technologies.
  • Rebuild equipment and systems as part of ongoing development.
  • Possess knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Manage breakdowns and recovery processes.
  • Facilitate technology and equipment relocation, installation, and commissioning.
  • Collaborate with other teams on relevant projects.
  • Assist in the mechanical design and fabrication of machinery and testing equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as required by department supervision.
  • Work to precise tolerances.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of a fully indentured apprenticeship in a mechanical discipline.
  • Experience with manufacturing technologies, machinery (including CNC processes), and facilities management.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with basic computer software and reporting systems.
  • Positive attitude, strong teamwork, and effective communication skills.
  • Experience in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, promoting understanding with confidence and enthusiasm.
