About the Role: This position presents an exciting opportunity for a well-organized and driven individual to oversee and assist a team of clerical officers and ward clerks within the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.

Team Overview: The Patient Services Team plays a crucial role in delivering frontline customer service to patients receiving cancer treatment or managing blood disorders. This includes office-based responsibilities such as recording patient attendance and scheduling outpatient appointments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Demonstrate a compassionate and professional demeanor towards patients, their families, and caregivers, particularly in challenging situations.
  • Communication: Serve as a primary contact for inquiries from both clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring polite and empathetic interactions with patients.
  • Address patient queries and escalate issues to the appropriate line manager or clinical staff as necessary.
  • Support the Day Unit and Ward Clerk teams in welcoming patients and updating their information accurately.

Organizing and Planning:

  • Efficiently manage the patient appointment scheduling process, ensuring accurate bookings and maintaining the Partial Booking List.
  • Assist in investigating patient complaints and share insights for improvement within the team.
  • Participate in relevant meetings as directed by the line manager.
  • Oversee the Open Referral Report, ensuring patients are tracked and appointments are scheduled as needed.
