About the Role:
This is a rewarding opportunity for a well-organized and driven individual to oversee and support a team of clerical staff and ward clerks at the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre.
The Patient Services Team plays a crucial role in delivering frontline customer service to patients receiving treatment for cancer or managing blood disorders, alongside an office-based function that involves recording patient attendance and scheduling outpatient appointments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Demonstrate a compassionate and professional demeanor towards patients, relatives, and caregivers, showing resilience in challenging situations.
- Communication: Serve as a primary contact for inquiries from both clinical and non-clinical personnel, ensuring polite and empathetic interactions with patients.
- Effectively escalate patient queries and capacity issues to the appropriate management or clinical staff.
- Support the Day Unit and Ward Clerk teams in welcoming patients and ensuring accurate updates on patient information systems.
Organizing and Planning:
- Manage the patient appointment scheduling process, ensuring accurate bookings and documentation.
- Assist in investigating patient complaints and ensure that lessons learned are communicated within the team.
- Participate in relevant meetings as directed by management.
- Oversee the Open Referral Report, tracking patients and ensuring timely appointment bookings.
