A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant RDC Manager to become a vital part of our dynamic team at Alliance Automotive Group.

Job Objective: To enhance RDC sales and profitability by fostering and sustaining enduring B2B partnerships, delivering exceptional customer service, and ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the RDC.

Key Responsibilities: Daily tasks will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Business Development: Evaluate RDC sales and profit metrics utilizing available database insights to pinpoint areas needing improvement. Ensure local market intelligence and broader commercial data are current and shared with relevant personnel. Communicate product range updates and RDC performance to bolster sales initiatives. Collaborate closely with UAN GA and the FPS sales team to optimize growth opportunities. Assume accountability for the RDC's profit and loss performance, including cost management and business development to achieve profit targets.
  • Customer Service Management: Cultivate and sustain positive customer relationships through various communication methods (e.g., phone calls, site visits, trade show invitations). Assess and enhance delivery services to support business growth. Address customer inquiries and concerns. Efficiently process customer returns and warranties in accordance with company protocols.
  • Asset Management: Organize warehouse layout to maximize operational efficiency. Supervise and track stock movements, conduct the necessary annual stock audits, and ensure stock systems are accurately maintained. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures regarding all RDC activities; take necessary actions in response to audit findings; and educate RDC staff on their roles in influencing costs and contributing to profitability. Ensure adherence to security protocols for stock and premises, including out-of-hours alarm procedures. Plan, monitor, and adjust staffing levels to maintain operational efficiency. Utilize management data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and enhanced operational efficiency. Oversee credit management and banking activities.
  • People Management: Lead the recruitment and selection process for new staff members. Oversee the onboarding of new employees. Manage the performance of direct reports by establishing expectations and providing ongoing feedback. Identify training needs and implement development plans, including coaching and on-the-job training when appropriate. Ensure driver training is organized to prevent accidents. Address staff issues promptly and in accordance with FPS policies, collaborating with HR as necessary. Lead disciplinary, grievance, recruitment, and post-incident investigations as required. Submit weekly absence and overtime reports to the payroll department.
  • Communication: Respond to requests from regional management within specified timeframes. Attend regional and RDC review meetings with management. Promptly escalate all RDC operational and sales concerns to the relevant regional manager. Maintain regular communication with field sales staff, providing updates on customer developments and issues. Share performance and change information with branch staff consistently.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all RDC equipment is accurately recorded and regularly inspected; conduct weekly health and safety inspections and take corrective actions as needed; document accidents and incidents per FPS procedures; perform random vehicle safety checks; maintain and service delivery vehicles and warehouse equipment as per agreed schedules; and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation among RDC staff, contractors, and visitors, fostering a positive health and safety culture at all levels.

Special Requirements:

  • Flexibility in working hours to ensure effective trading.
  • Occasional travel outside of regular hours may be necessary.
  • Overnight accommodations may be required on occasion.
  • May need to operate a non-HGV delivery vehicle occasionally.
  • The role may involve lifting or handling goods, with a maximum weight of 25 kg.
  • Any other reasonable tasks as required.
