About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to join our perioperative team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective management of our surgical services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist and support the Clinical Manager in the safe and effective management of the service, including management of staff, facilities, and associated systems and processes.
  • Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
  • Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, the team, and the organisation.
  • Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, making optimal use of operating sessions. Identify potential bottlenecks and facilitate smooth patient flow through the department.
  • Ensure a high standard of service delivery is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care to meet patients' needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Set, monitor, and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.
  • Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.
  • Promote provision of patient education and health promotion.
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting, and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
  • Ensure the environment of care is safe, well-equipped, and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Participate in education and training of junior staff, encouraging professional growth and development.
  • Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice.
  • Demonstrate and maintain competence in anaesthetic practice (ODP's).
Requirements
  • Registered nurse/ODP with current NMC/HCPC registration.
  • Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 12 months commencement in post.
  • Evidence of current and continuing professional development.
  • Extensive experience in Scrub for all Plastics surgery.
Desirable Criteria
  • Degree in related healthcare area.
  • Core people management skills.
  • Level 3 ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) or equivalent.
  • Experience in Plastics Surgery.
Knowledge and Experience
  • Knowledge of escalation and cancellation processes.
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice.
  • Awareness of changes in practice and the ability to implement change.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
