We are in search of a skilled and passionate Flood Hydrologist to become a vital part of our Water Management Division on a permanent basis.

As a Flood Hydrologist, you will engage in a variety of multi-disciplinary initiatives, including flood mitigation studies, river restoration projects, flood risk evaluations, and significant infrastructure and development assignments.

Your responsibilities will encompass supporting projects related to water bodies governed by the Reservoirs Act, contributing to efforts aligned with the Water Framework Directive, and the engineering design of hydraulic structures and navigational systems.

You will be tasked with the creation, analysis, and review of hydrological models, employing standard FEH methodologies, and applying these techniques to both permeable and pumped catchments to assist our reservoir supervising engineers.

Your role will also involve analyzing low and normal flow conditions to aid in river restoration and wetland design, collaborating closely with our hydraulic modelling team.

In addition, you will assist our Senior Hydrologists in promoting best practices across the organization in the application of hydrological assessment techniques and provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Your ability to liaise effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels will be crucial.

Candidate Profile
You will possess a BSc/BEng/MEng qualification and be progressing towards chartership.

Your experience should include flood hydrology utilizing FEH and other established methodologies to support engineering design, river engineering, habitat restoration, flood mitigation schemes, and surface water management throughout all project phases from pre-planning to construction.


A solid understanding of land development and national planning policies is essential. Proficiency in GIS tools such as ArcGIS, MapInfo, or QGIS is required.
